A book to look out for (updated)

I'm very much looking forward to seeing Pierced for our transgressions: rediscovering the glory of penal substitution by Drs Jeffery, Ovey and Sach (IVP).

I can't remember seeing any other book lavished with such praise from a comparably diverse and eminent set of evangelical luminaries. Good old Oak Hill.

The book even has a group on Facebook, with 83 members so far. I can almost hear the buzz mounting.

Yes, the list of those giving encomiums was so large I was a little put out not to have been asked for my comments!

Ros,

I'm sure its only a matter of time (and some toil, of course.

"Encomiums" is a word we don't hear often enough, isn't it?

BTW, did I hear your anecdote about one plate being at the top of your doubled price-range on a John Lewis wedding list being narrated on Thinking Aloud this week, someone who simply calls herself "Ros"? Radio 4: that's fame.

I once heard Gervase Markham III on Home Truths on Christmas day, which caused me to squabble with my little sister as I shhhhed her so that I could listen.

I think this may be a little off topic.

How exciting - I must listen to that episode. I heard it last week and sent in my comment on a whim. I've just sent a cutting in for the News Quiz too, so listen out for that one.

And it's your blog, you get to pick the topic.

Yes, good point, Ros, thanks.

Maybe you should have a link on your blog to "Ros Citations" or some such?

Do let me know if you hear your thing on the News Quiz and we'll listen again. I only usually hear R4 in bed and 6:30pm is an odd time to go to bed. (Thinking Aloud, however...).

I just listened to it and it was definitely my anecdote, though he did only read half of it out (admittedly the more interesting half). What fun.
