Shots in the dark

“Shots in the dark are likely to miss the target altogether. If one is lucky, one may sometimes hit somewhere nearby. If one is less lucky, even a long series of shots may fail to graze the target. If one is trying to economize on ammunition, it is good to be able to see at least the entire outline of the object one is aiming at.” (p28)
