A good sermon in chapel today and lots of interesting things arising from the lectionary juxtaposition of Exodus & Revelation.
The Mark of the Beast is of course a parody of the Mark of God with which his people are sealed. Exodus 13 speaks of God's people being marked on their arms and between their eyes.
Garry suggested to me (i'm not sure why) that the mark of God is an ancient Hebrew tav, which would have been in the shape of a cross, which is happy if true.
The link from Passover bread to the Lord's Supper is obvious. All this is for you and your children, so that's peado-communion.
The idea that the consecration of the first born parallels baptism was new to me.
