C of E Ministry Selection Criteria
There are lots of good and useful things in there. But maybe we need a long hard look at the Pastoral Epistles again. For example, what of 1 Timothy 3:4-5 “He must manage his own
household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if
someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care
for God’s church?” Maybe this is also another argument for delaying the start of formal training if, that is, we are going to delay marriage and having kids. Maybe the home is a key training ground for the church, which is after all the household and family of God. When it comes to references for ordination training it would be nice to be able to write, "Johnny has set a wonderful example of loving and serving his wife and children. They all clearly love Jesus and delight in serving Him together."
