T H L Parker on the state of the C of E

"... it appears to me that the Church of England ... is, in almost every respect that is worth while, in a far worse state now than it was in the 1940s. Doctrinally, morally, and in the understanding of its task as the Church of - England, the failure has been disasterous. What wonder that a Church which picks and chooses what it wants out of the Bible should become confused in its theology, flabby in its morals, and with little to state but the worldly obvious - the day after worldly liberals have stated it more convincingly?"

T H L Parker, Calvin's Preaching (Edingburgh, T & T Clark, 1991) p.x
