ORDER OF SERVICE

Before the service we’ll play the music to the hymn Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!

Welcome, notices and introduction

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
(And also with you.)

Introduction

Trinity Sunday

It is God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness”, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

(2 Corinthians 4:6)

Opening Prayer

Invitation to confession

Holy, holy, holy.
When our eyes have seen the Lord of hosts, we echo the words of Isaiah:
“Woe is me! I am doomed.”
We long for the fire of God’s cleansing to touch our unclean lips, for our iniquity to be removed and for our sins to be wiped out.
So we meet Father, Son and Holy Spirit with confession on our lips.

Confession

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Woe is me, for I am lost: I am a person of unclean lips:
Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.

You guilt is taken away, and your sin is forgiven:
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Absolution

May the Father forgive you by the death of his Son and strengthen you to live in the power of the Spirit all your days.
Amen.

Hymn: Who Has Held The Oceans In His Hands?

Jesus

* * *

Let us confess our faith in the one Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is,
seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Intercessions

Concluding:

We worship you, saying:
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest. Amen.

The Collect

Almighty and everlasting God,
you have given us your servants grace,
by the confession of a true faith,
to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity
and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity:
keep us steadfast in this faith,
that we may evermore be defended from all adversities;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer is said
Being made one by the power of the Spirit,
let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Blessing

After the service, we’ll play: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
