Light is essential for life
1 John 1:5 “God is light; in him there is no darkness at
all.”
2 meanings of darkness:
(1)
ignorance – “I’m totally in the dark about long
multiplication”, I don’t understand it – opposite of knowledge and truth –
cartoon light-bulb moment, enlightenment
(2)
Evil – opposite of purity and goodness, “It was
a dark movie”, nasty, evil, “his heart was dark”, badness
Jesus calls himself the light of the world
“In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The
light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it…. The true
light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.” (John 1)
