It appears that according to figures published in 2005, virtually every diocese in the Church of England was giving permission for parishes to admit children to Communion before confirmation. Sodor and Man was not. Carlisle, Hereford and York were holding discussions or consultations.
57 churches in our own diocese of Chichester had been given permission.
1064 parishes had permission in 2001 and 1650 had permission by the middle of 2005, about 10% of the total.
