You could do a lot worse than to follow Johnny Jukes example at Kirk Ella: To preach the gospel (passage) for a least a year. You get to show who Christ is, what He's done, what our condition is, what His solution is and how we should be responding. Be prepared to extend readings and not to miss verses the lectionary sometimes jumps over (usually to avoid something difficult like judgement).

Yes, I'd spotted that Common Worship even suggests that one may wish to re-insert the ommitted verses.
