Distracted?

 Pascal sounds like a jolly chap. He said that the 17th C person is constantly anxiously burdened with financial and social responsibilities, desperately seeking security, honour and friendship. But even if he does get some free time, he ought to keep himself diverted. Heaven forbid that he might be bored because then he might ask who he is, where he came from or where he is going. Better to be distracted and to move imperceptibly to our death, unless we are willing to honestly face these questions and perhaps seek something more solid. I reckon he might have spotted some issues with Facebook and the smart phone.
